A Peaceful Flower Garden

Many of you know that I will be releasing my novel, A Stop in the Park, in late summer. It is a story about a disillusioned married couple that yearn to escape the trap of the modern American dream. Jamie Stolis is married to Michael, a powerful DC attorney whose hectic days have turned him into an explosive tyrant. Jamie deals with his wrath by binging on peanut butter cups, shopping impulsively and fostering illicit Internet relationships. Although she has lost the incredible love she once felt for Michael, Jamie shuns divorce. Her daughters will not be shuttled between two homes, never knowing where they belong. She'd grown up like that and hated it. The only place Jamie finds solace is in the palm of her diminutive urban flower garden. During one scene Jamie is asked how she feels while nurturing her garden. She replies, "Like love is pouring out of me. The earth graciously accepts it and returns my gift with beauty."

At this point, I was going to share Micki Peluso's inspirational garden composition, as a way to help introduce you to Jamie. The article, however, may be published in a magazine, and they have some kind of "rights" to it for a while. Neither Micki or I were aware of this and I had to remove it. Sorry!!! If it does become available again, I will post.

That being said, I'm going to kick back and make this an easy blog post because of the glitch. First some garden flowers for you::

Second, this gives me an opportunity to share one of my favorite Mr. Rodgers videos, "The Garden of the Mind." You have to see this if you haven't already:

  2. I agree Sandra. It could be featured in a national magazine. Maybe it will find its way to one.

  3. Loved this place for Micki. Peggy your book sounds wonderful. Each of us should have our own garden-for me it is at the ocean edges and sandy beaches.
    Thank you for sharing.

  5. Hi, Sandra. I enjoyed today's post. Beautiful photo and great Mr. Rogers episode. When my son was young, I enjoyed watching Mr. Rogers as much as he did! What a kind, gentle soul.
I'm looking forward to reading A Stop in the Park. When will it be available?

    1. Hi Sandy,

A Stop in the Park should be ready in about two months. I'm waiting for the proof copy then it has to go out for reviews (Yikes!). It's a long process.

    1. Thanks Linneann. Micki was disappointed that I had to pull her beautiful garden post, but it should be available in a month or so. And you're right about her, she does deserve the best success, as do you.

  7. I love gardens, but since I live in an apartment I have to be satisfied with tons of indoor plants, most of which do not bloom. Sometimes I think they are trying to take over in here, but then occasionally one dies and I miss it.

There is a park with beautiful gardens a few miles from here and I go several times during blooming season just to stroll through and take pictures. I find it so relaxing.

I love those purple flowers and the little encouragement to plant our own garden to decorate our souls. I wish you well with your book when it comes out.

    1. Thanks Diane. This was sort of an "emergency" post so I'm glad it worked out okay. My husband and I are getting ready for a vacation in British Columbia. We'll be visiting the Bouchard Gardens--should be beautiful. ~ Peggy

  10. Hello Peggy,
I don't know how I missed this article but I did. Thank you so much, because it has helped me tremendously this morning. I love the song, The Garden of Your Mind. I had never heard it before and believe it or not, the GEMA did not block it!
It is a beautiful song, and it lifted my spirit.
Congratulations on your book and I wish you all the best in every matter concerning your book release, public relations and sales.
    Ciao,
    Patricia
